Life, Love The Liberties, Visit

The Liberties Festival is back for its 48th year running from 18th to 22nd July at locations across the area. From modest beginnings in 1970, the Festival has grown to become a highlight of the summer in Dublin with a series of family-friendly, sporting and community events, and an exciting multi-cultural and arts programme encompassing visual art, film, dance, comedy, literature and music. The festival is run by SICCDA – the South Inner City Community Development Association – and sponsored by Dublin City Council and Diageo.

This year’s programme is packed with firm favorites and plenty of new additions. With everything from yoga workshops, barista classes, Opera in the Open, to a Lego workshop and an outdoor cinema, the diverse lineup of events has something for all the family. More than 20 events will take place in streets, parks, cafes, pubs, churches and public buildings across The Liberties including a spectacular Opening Event featuring The Delorentos beneath St Patrick’s Tower on Wednesday 18th July, to the supremely glamorous The Blue Rinse Ball in the magnificent Tailors’ Hall, the ‘Street Traders V’s Garda Football Match’ and the 10th annual Liberties Fun Run through the streets of The Liberties and Kilmainham in aid of St James’s Hospital.

There’s something for everyone and most events are free! Check out details at www.libertiesfestival2018.com and follow updates on social media.
