Dublin City Council has submitted plans for a revamp of Dolphin’s Barn. The proposal envisages new pavements, street furniture and landscaping of both Dolphins’s Barn Street and SCR and the creation on enhanced public spaces at Boles Corner and to the front of the church, including a new cafe kiosk at St James’s Terrace.

The redesign, undertaken by Haslam & Co Architects, is now on public display as part of a Part 8 planning application process. Comments are invited on the proposals by 29th June 2018. The plans and details of the scheme are on display at Dublin City Council Civic Offices at Wood Quay, as well as available to view at South Central Area Office on Marrowbone Lane. The plans are also available online at www.dublincity.ie.

The public realm project is one of a number of initiatives underway to revitalize Dolphin’s Barn. A multi-million euro regeneration of Dolphin House is well advanced, while a number of private development sites in the area are now coming forward for development. Dublin City Council is also currently offering small grants to business holders in Dolphin’s Barn and Rialto to encourage refurbishment of premises (Shopfront Improvement Scheme).
