Scaffolding going up marks the beginning of two major office refurbishments on Thomas Street.

HSE Estates has recently started work on a major refurbishment of Nos. 10-13 Cornmarket, the imposing granite building that marks the traditional entrance into The Liberties. The building has previously been used for local HSE (and former health board) services but the intention now is to house support offices of the Health Promotion Unit in the restored premises. Most importantly the ground floor will be significantly remodelled to create a new retail unit and public information office from the street with large glazed sections replacing the current arrangement.

At the other end of Thomas Street, Ranola Properties is refurbishing Emmet House, Nos. 138-140 Thomas Street to create a prestige office premises close to The Digital Hub and GEC. The current phase of work will see the facade extensively remodelled, while internally the building is being fitted out for modern office use. The project is expected to be completed in March 2017.
