The first meeting of the Legion of Mary took place in Myra House on Francis Street on 7 September, 1921. Since then, the religious group has grown to be represented in over 170 countries. The historic premises on Francis Street is one of th oldest remaining buildings on the street featuring side lane carriageway still intact – so aside from the religious aspect the building itself is quite historical.
