Bikebunkers are a great new initiative from Dublin City Council to facilitate residents who need space to park cycles rather than cars close to their homes. The handy lockups are now being found at spots across the city as what had been a ‘beta’ trial project now becomes more mainstream. As cycling gains more and more prominence in the city as a sustainable means of transport, the ambition is to continue to roll-out Bikebunkers. The bunkers cost €100 per year to rent and have space for 4 -6 cycles inside. Among the benefits touted are convenience, security, supporting cycling (good for the heart folks) and tidy streets.
