Business premises across the South West Inner City area have benefitted from the grants scheme, now in its 8th year

Dublin City Council South Central Area office is now inviting applications under the Shopfront Improvement Scheme 2022. The scheme is applicable to business premises across the South West Inner City covering The Liberties, Dolphin’s Barn, Rialto, Clanbrassil Street area, Kilmainham, Inchicore, Islandbridge and Heuston environs.

The scheme offers grant assistance to commercial premises to assist with refurbishing or renewing shopfronts. It also supports certain works to upper floors within the Thomas Street & Environs Architectural Conservation Area.

Now in its eighth year, the scheme continues to benefitted businesses, community organisations and landmark buildings across the South West Inner City and has helped to transform commercial areas. 2021 proved another bumper year for the scheme, with over 30 projects supported and an overall investment in excess of €250,000 made by businesses.

Qualifying works include:

  • Painting and redecorating an existing shopfront
  • Repair, decluttering, greening and general enhancement of shop and building fronts
  • Certain works to the upper floors of buildings such as sash or timber window repair, rainwater goods repair
  • Removal of high-level signage and redundant signage
  • Installation of new shopfronts or material changes to existing frontages (subject to planning permission)
