The innovative Smart D8 programme was established in 2020 by a consortium of local government, medical, enterprise and third level institutions in Dublin 8. The smart city district acts as a testbed area for new and innovative practices and solutions in the area of healthcare and community wellbeing.
Since its establishment, Smart D8 has partnered with innovators and service providers to run a series of pilot projects in the area; ranging from healthy heart programme, mental health initiatives, community currency, sports and injury recovery, intergenerational care and more.
2023 was an exciting year for Smart D8 as it launches its third pilot call, held its first projects showcase and reached the finals of World Smart City Awards in Barcelona, competing with over 400 international smart city projects.
At the heart of Smart D8 is the community of Dublin 8, and its next venture offers local residents and workers in the area the opportunity to make positive changes to their health and wellbeing in 2024. Smart D8 is excited to announce comprehensive health and wellbeing initiatives next year in collaboration with various organizations across Dublin 8. The aim is to foster a healthier and happier community by offering classes and workshops open to workers and residents in Dublin 8.
The programme will take place from January until May in various areas, including The Liberties, Inchicore, Rialto and Dolphin’s Barn. They will be free of charge and open to workers and residents in Dublin 8.
Full details of the programme will be published in early January. You can find out more at www.smartd8.ie or scan the QR code below.
