Robert Emmet CDP Inner City Beekeeping Project is a socially and environmentally sustainable programme designed to create innovative educational and employment opportunities for inner city communities, improve the local environment and support endangered native Irish honey bee populations.

The project currently employs 2 people to manage hives in 12 sites across Dublin 8, deliver free beekeeping courses to local community members, monitor environmental performance using sensors and offers a bee-related education curriculum to local schools!

In 2022 the project plans to grow the social enterprise to a staff team of four managing hives in 25 city wide locations.

The project is one of several innovative community development programmes operated by Robert Emmet CDP who are now exploring opportunities with local businesses and organisations to expand the programme and increase its impact beyond 2022. By becoming part of the Inner City Beekeeping Project organisations will be supporting our wider work developing resilient and empowered communities in the heart of Dublin.
