Donore Credit Union in Dublin 8 has recently launched an initiative known as the Donore Area Sustainable Community (DASC).
This is a Sustainable Energy Community (SEC) initiative, which is a funding and support programme that helps communities to work together to become energy-smart and more sustainable. In doing so, Sustainable Energy Communities aim to use less energy by improving efficiency within the community (e.g. upgrading insulation, improved lighting and heating systems), incorporating renewable energy (e.g. by installing solar panels, generating community energy) and adopting smart energy technologies, such as smart controls.
The public are welcome to attend a Sustainable Community Event on Thursday the 10th of August at 7pm in the Wisdom Centre on Cork Street to learn more about the initiative and how to make your home more energy sustainable.
The public information session will include speakers from SEAI and Sustainable Energy West and Dublin City Council/CODEMA who will be there to provide information on how everyone in the community can play their part in making their community more sustainable. More at www.donorecu.ie.
