Dublin City Council together with OPW, Fáilte Ireland and culture partners in the area have inaugurated a fantastic new neighbourhood initiative called Culture Date with Dublin 8, taking place this year on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May.

A bumper weekend of special events and activities is planned centred on the area’s main cultural institutions such as Kilmainham Gaol, Richmond Barracks and Royal Hospital Kilmainham-IMMA. Also opening for the event is the historic Goldenbridge Cemetery (now managed by Glasnevin Trust) and the fabulous Magazine Fort in the Phoenix Park and the War Memorial Gardens at Islandbridge.

Its a great opportunity to explore the lively neighbourhoods of Kilmainham, Inchicore and Islandbridge, or head west to Chapelizod or east back into The Liberties! There are special tours, exhibitions, workshops, music and much more. The City Council hopes this inaugural event will blossom into a spring-time staple in the city’s busy calendar.
