Halloween is on the way, with Bram Stoker Festival having introduced us to the nightmare holiday. There are plenty of events yet to come in The Liberties to keep you and your kids entertained. From fancy dress and ghost stories to traditional Halloween games, there’s something for everyone. This year Halloween falls on a Saturday, meaning the area will be buzzing during the weekend.
30th October 7pm – 3am | District 8, Francis Street
A horror screening followed by a Halloween disco. What a combination!
On Devil’s Night, Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin returns to Dublin to perform a live soundtrack double-bill to two of the most stylish horror films in extistence – Dario Argento’s Suspiria & Profondo Rosso (40 year anniversary). Goblin’s Claudio Simonetti will give a live performance of both scores, combining his Q & A with Chris O’Neill of the Triskel Arts Centre. Support comes in the shape of exclusive new horror Audiovisual shorts from Stefano ‘Giallo’ Galvino. This is a fully-seated performance.
Following the screenings will be an abundance of spooky acid and disco, between I-F, Umberto, The Horrorist and Everything Shook.

Dublinia, situated at the crossroads of Medieval Dublin, will host a week of scary activities for this year’s Halloween.
“Tis widely known that spirits do enter the body through the hair and the way to drive these out is to cut this hair wherever it do appear.”
Just outside Dublin’s medieval market, Thomas O’Brien the bloody Barber Surgeon meets Biddy Deasy who specialises in ‘alternative’ methods of healing! Listen to their stories (and arguments) about life, death and disease in Medieval Dublin.
Staged by Deilg Inis living history theatre company, Creepy Cures and Ridiculous Remedies will revive Medieval life, and death, this Halloween.
30th October 3pm – 6:30pm | St Catherine’s Church and Graveyard, Thomas Street
What better place to hold a spooky Halloween party than in an old church and graveyard! Get your spook on at Saint Catherine’s Church on Thomas Street for the genuine Halloween experience.
Get Your Spook On is a family fun event which is returning for a second ‘spooktacular’ year. There will be music, food, a magician, Mr. Podso Show (friendly vampire), giant jenga, connect 4, face-painting, balloon-making, stilt-walkers, piñatas and traditional Halloween games.
This event is a joint initiative with Dublin City Council, the local after schools groups, FRC’s and youth projects/groups.
31st October 9pm | Arthur’s Bar
Halloween just wouldn’t be Halloween without a fancy dress party!
Arthur’s Bar on Thomas Street will be awarding a prize for the best dressed person at their Halloween Special fancy dress party on Saturday night.
Oddsocks, a top Dublin-based rhythm blues n groove band, will be providing entertainment at the party (Although the costumes are sure to be the main source of entertainment!).
We’ve been told to expect special guests and prizes for best dressed. Plenty of surprises!

As if one fancy dress party wasn’t enough for Halloween, The Liberties has two!
Vicar Street are hosting some very special guests for what will be their first club night in over 10 years! (They also claim it will be one of the best parties of the year)
One of Dublin’s finest venues will throw their fancy dress party on Saturday night spread over two rooms. There is an incredible line up of party sounds with Basement Jaxx (DJ Set) and The Orb Sound system headlining, Dublin club legend Billy Scurry, Lasertom (Live), Adultrock (Live), LRB, Simon F and Mark Gill will also play.
Tickets are bought through Ticketmaster and cost €25. Don’t forget the costume!
