A new artwork marks the end of the 70 year old estate and looks to future redevelopment

A new artpiece at Donore Avenue marks the end of one of the area’s best known estates – St Teresa’s Gardens. The work by artists Garreth Joyce and Vanessa Power says ‘They Lived and Loved and Laughed and Left”, remembering the many people who lived in the complex since it was built in 1952. The mural was sponsored by Donore Credit Union.
The final blocks of St Teresa’s Gardens will now be demolished ahead of a major regeneration of the site that will see hundreds of new homes developed as well as a largescale playing pitch, amenity areas and community facilities. The first tranche of new housing, on the newly minted Margaret Kennedy Road, was opened to its tenants in March.
