Preliminary plans by Dublin City Council to refurbish the precincts around one of the city’s largest local authority housing schemes have been put on show. Oliver Bond House is proposed for new landscaped areas, reorganised residents parking and refurbished amenities including a playing pitch under the proposals currently on display in Robert Emmet CDP offices at Usher Street. The aim of precinct improvements is to enhance the environmental quality of the estate replacing large areas of paving with soft landscaped open areas.

The precinct improvements form part of a major investment in the complex by Dublin City Council and one of a number of regeneration initiatives around Bridgefoot Street:

  • A new community park  – Bridgefoot Street Park – is currently under construction across from Oliver Bond House. When it opens in spring 2021, the park will includes beautiful landscaping, a games area, playground, terraces that will allow for community meetings and events and a community garden with allotments.
  • Fifty-seven new social housing units are currently being constructed by Dublin City Council Housing Department at Bonham Street. The scheme will be completed and ready for occupying at the end of 2021.
  • Plans are afoot to green and landscape the central median of Bridgefoot Street in tandem with the adjoin park.
  • And community development company Innovate Communities is set to open its new Dublin 8 hub at Bridgefoot Court early next year.
