
Applications are now being invited for the Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2026 for protected structures and building of heritage value across the city

Dublin City Council, in conjunction with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, are inviting applications for grant funding under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) for 2026. Protected Structures, proposed Protected Structures and structures within Architectural Conservation Areas are eligible for grant funding.
The scheme supports essential repairs and smaller capital works for the refurbishment and conservation of heritage structures and the employment of skilled and experienced conservation professionals, craftspeople and tradespersons.
BHIS funding is open to owners of protected structures in The Liberties as well as buildings of heritage value within the Thomas Street & Environs Architecural Conservatioon Area (ACA), which includes Thomas Street, Meath Street and Francis Street and residential areas off these streets such as John Dillion Street area or Gray Street area.
Among the projects recieving support in 2025 in The Liberties were essential repairs to 10 Ardee Street (a surviving Georgian house); repair work to the front plinth and railings at St Catherine of Alexandria Church on Meath Street; the reintatement of the original window arangement to the former Meath Street crèche; and repair work at NCAD on Thomas Street.
The deadline for submission of completed applications for the 2026 grants scheme is Friday 26th September 2025. Late applications and/or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
