Here’s a first look at the proposed 263-bedroom hotel to be located on a long-vacant site on The Coombe in Dublin 8. The hotel, which will be owned and operated by the Hodson Bay Group, has been designed by Mola Architecture. A planning application has now been submitted to Dublin City Council to construct the hotel which will include car/bar/restaurant and conference and meeting room facilities. The building site between Fallon’s Pub (The Capstan Lounge) and the former school, now BIMM School of Music.
The Hodson Bay Group already operate three prominent hotels in Athlone and Galway, and the new Coombe hotel will be their first foray into the capital. It comes at a time of growing demand for hotels in Dublin, where full occupancy in peak months is now the norm, and this hotel joins a number of other proposals in the area including the Aloft Hotel at Blackpitts, mooted hotels on Thomas Street and Francis Street (Iveagh Markets) and permitted hotel nearby at the former Myra Glass site on Kevin Street.
You can find more details of the application here, while the Architectural Design Report offers accessible information on the design and prospect of the hotel.
