The Dubline is a discovery trail running through the centre of Dublin city from Parnell Square to College Green, through The Liberties and on to Kilmainham. The trail offers visitors to the city an opportunity to experience the stories and themes of its history from Viking settlement to second city of the empire to revolutionary capital. A series of panels to mark the route of the Dubline have now been installed at key locations. They mark the length of time between stops and include innovative ‘beacons’ that ping to life as you approach. The beacons activate the Dubline app which includes the various trails around the city.
The panels were officially unveiled today by Lord Mayor/ Ard Mheara Críona Ní Dhálaigh and Minister for Tourism Paschal Donohoe. Panels are located at Kilmainham Gaol, Royal Hospital Kilmainham, St James Church (soon), St James’s Gate Brewery, Thomas Street, City Walls, Christ Church Cathedral, Temple Bar, Trinity College, and O’Connell Street.
