The creative collective which established in 2018 has been reawakening knowledge and craft of weaving in The Liberties

Liberties’ creative group, The Liberties Weavers, were winners at this year’s IPB All Ireland Pride of Place Awards, held in Armagh on Friday 10th November. The group excelled in their category of projects contribution to Creative Places. Founded by a commited group of weaving and history enthusiasts in 2018 with the support of Dublin City Council South Central Area community team, The Liberties Weavers has been going from strength to strength, hosting popular workshops and classes on weaving and promoting the craft and tradition of weaving in the area through talks and walking tours.
The group gave a marvellous presentation to the judges in the summer and impressed with the breadth of their purpose and activities and the personal journeys of the people who’ve been involved with the Weavers since its inception.
Huge Congratulations to The Liberties Weavers on their win! Its heartening to see such a creative project is now being noticed for its excellence and for reinvigouring the tradition and skills of weaving in Dublin city centre.
