THISISPOPBABY’s theatrical smash-hit WAKE returns to light up Dublin 8 as a headline show of St. Patrick’s Festival 2024.

Life, Love The Liberties

For 17 years, hit-makers THISISPOPBABY have been ripping up the space between popular culture, counter culture and high art, with Dublin city as their base and their muse. Their latest juggernaut show, WAKE runs 6-23 March at the National Stadium on Dublin’s South Circular Road as part of this year’s St. Patrick’s Festival. Dublin 8 is the perfect location for the show, which sold out its premiere run in 2022, as a microcosm of Ireland in one thriving community.

The show’s impact on the community can’t be overstated. In 2022, before and after each show, the pubs, cafes and restaurants in the vicinity of the venue were hopping. Businesses that typically closed at 5pm left their doors open later to feed and water the throngs. Portobello and The Coombe locals strolled to and from the show, free of the burden of relying on a taxi to get them home. Even the South Circular Road itself was buzzing as equally elated strangers chatted to each other at the bus stops and on the street.

What’s it all about? Showcasing the very best of contemporary Ireland, audiences can expect wild acrobatics, trad-with-a-twist, banging Irish tap, searing hot circus and outrageous cabaret. Winner of the Judges’ Special Award and Best Performer at Dublin Fringe 2022, WAKE is a guaranteed electric night out for Dubliners of all ages. Top tip for locals – all Tuesday performances for €25 plus booking fee! Tickets from www.waketheshow.com.
