From 4–10 May, Culture Date with Dublin 8 2026 brought together an estimated 14,000 attendees across 171 unique events in 108 venues, making this the biggest festival to date.
This year’s theme, Songlines of the City, invited audiences to explore Dublin 8 as a living archive of stories, songs, myths and memories. Highlights included the world premiere of The City of Our Dreaming by Paula Meehan and The Guinness Choir, the Gulliver 300 programme, the Late in D8 music trail, and exhibitions by Valerie Gannon, Duc Van Pham and Camilla Hanney.
The response has been incredible:

✨ 87% discovered somewhere new in Dublin 8
✨ 88% felt more connected to the area
✨ 100% of programme partners said they would participate again
The festival also received extensive media coverage, with features on RTÉ News, RTÉ Supporting the Arts, The Irish Times, Irish Independent, Totally Dublin, Lovin Dublin and many more. In total, the festival generated 197 media features, helping to shine a spotlight on the culture, creativity and heritage of Dublin 8.
