Life, Love The Liberties, Visit

National Heritage Week takes place this summer from 20th to 28th August with hundreds of events celebrating Ireland’s heritage running nationwide. Heritage Week is run each year by The Heritage Council.

In 2016, the Heritage Council is inviting you to explore 100 Years of Heritage and take a journey back through one hundred years of Ireland, discovering the lives of those who came before us.

Here in The Liberties and Dublin 8 you’ll find great things to see and do over the 9 days. You can explore our majestic cathedrals and beautiful churches with planned events in both Christ Church Cathedral and St Patrick’s and free tours of St Audoen’s, Dublin’s oldest parish church.

You can enjoy rare and beautiful books and treasures in two historic libraries: Archbishop Marsh’s Library on St Patrick’s Close and the wonderful and little-known Edward Worth Library at Dr Steeven’s Hospital.

And explore a unique slice of community life as Robert Emmett CDP celebrate 80 Years of Oliver Bond House. And learn more about our railway history at the Irish Railway Records at Heuston Station.

Events are being added all the time so browse the Listings at www.heritageweek.ie or keep an eye on our Events page for details.
